hi i just asked a question about what is to be expected about getting into the feild of social work. my former sister in law is moving back to illinois and she told me she is going to go to a comminty college to get her associates in paralegal studies, is there even a degree for that? the school that i wanted to go to offers only a certificate program, is there an actual degree? i tried to find more info online for her but i didnt come up with anything, does anyone know of a school that offers an actual assoicates? and what is the difference between that and a certificate?

    lol confused again
lol to many I's in illinois, that is what i get for mulitasking! lol

It is possible to do either a certificate or associate. The difference is that with an AA you are better able to go on for a BA.

    Here is an IL example:

What College majors should i take to eventually become a detective? I was looking a paralegal studies.?

Im not sure that paralegal studies is the right course to take, but it seems like the one that would eventually lead to being employeed as a detective.

There is no typical major that leads to being a detective. I know plenty of detectives that don't have college degrees at all. What you should is take a subject that interests you…while a subject like criminology or forensic science would likely give you a boost, it is by no means required. Lastly, you should know that one isn't hired as a detective. You first must become a regular police officer and then get promoted to detective which normally take a minimum of 5 years.

I have a diploma as a medical assistant and now I can't even find a job that's why I want to go to college again and study something that will be in the industry and that they will have jbs available

You have to take an education course and do the classroom observation. You will know if you want to put up with a room full of brats all day or not. and they are usualy on good behavior when there is a visitor so do not be fooled! Those are two very different career choices. Go see your councelor at your high school or college and try to find something you are passionate about. Then go for it!

I have a B.A. in English from a University and have completed one semester in a graduate program. However, I did not complete as I am now a stay at home mom working part-time. What are the pros and cons in entering a Paralegal Certification program vs. obtaining an Associate's in Paralegal studies from the technical college where I live?

If you didn't have a BA, going into an associates program would show that you had some general higher ed classes and could produce at college-level. Since you already have a degree, a certification program would be fine for you. Many big firms now require a 4 year degree (in any subject) for paralegals, so you'll be ok.
